The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly has successfully organized a public hearing as part of the preparation process for its 2026–2029 Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP). The event, held in accordance with national planning guidelines, brought together a wide range of stakeholders to validate the draft development plan and ensure its alignment with local needs and national goals.
In line with the National Medium Term Development Framework and broader national and global development agendas, all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) are required to prepare a comprehensive four-year development plan. A key component of this process is the organization of a public hearing to present and validate the needs assessment and strategic inputs captured in the draft document.
The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly’s public hearing was well attended and highly participatory. Present were Assembly Members, traditional leaders, Unit Committee members, representatives from residents’ associations, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), persons with disabilities (PWDs), business groups, religious bodies, farmers’ associations, women’s groups, and market representatives.
The purpose of the hearing was to verify the accuracy and inclusiveness of the draft plan, make necessary corrections where applicable, and collectively adopt it as a guiding document for the development of the municipality over the next four years. Stakeholders actively engaged in discussions, shared feedback, and made recommendations to enhance the plan’s effectiveness and responsiveness to community needs.
The successful organization of the public hearing reflects the Assembly’s commitment to participatory governance and inclusive development planning. The final plan, once approved, will serve as a key tool in guiding development initiatives across the municipality from 2026 to 2029.
