Making Politics Safer-Mitigating Violence Against Women in Politics in Africa.

A briefing was held on the research project findings ‘Making Politics Safer-Mitigating Violence Against Women in Politics in Africa.’ The research conducted by the Nordic Africa Institute with support from the National Swedish Research Council, focused on Ghana, Kenya and Zimbabwe.
In Ghana, Ablekuma West was one of the selected constituencies that participated in the research study. As part of the research process, the institute presented the findings of the research as a form of feedback mechanism. Participants for the insightful programme were Hon. Assembly Members, Municipal Coordinating Director, representatives of the two main political parties (NDC/NPP), Community members and the Municipal Electoral Commission Officers.
The Session provided insights into political violence and the barriers/challenges women in politics face. Copies of the findings were distributed to participants.
