Mitigating Local Environmental and Civil Risks

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly, George Kpakpo Allotey, has actively engaged the local fishing community regarding their relocation from the Shiabu coastal belt. This move is required to facilitate the ongoing 5-kilometre Gbegbeyise-Shiabu Sea Defence Wall Project and accommodate the development of the ultra-modern Shiabu Fish Market

The MCE emphasized that the relocation and modern market integration serve a dual purpose: expanding local commerce and cleaning up public health hazards. Side-by-side with the sea defence project, the Assembly has deployed task forces to carry out major decongestion and demolition exercises. These targets focus on clearing crime-prone coastal ghettos and illegal dumping zones that have historically polluted the Shiabu beachfront and compromised the safety of the fish market.

Ebenezer Senior High School (Padua) officially marked its milestone 85th anniversary in 2026 under the theme, “85 Years of Resilience: Shaping the Future through Technology and Innovation”. Founded in 1941 by Robert Teiko Aryee with just six students in a small room in Ayalolo, the Dansoman-based institution celebrated nearly a century of academic, cultural, and structural endurance. the grace the occasion was the Ablekuma West Municipal Executive presented Certificate to some of the most promising students

Drilling of one mechanize borehole and the servicing 5 existing borehole at Ebenezer Senior high, St. Magaret Mary and Akweibu basic school

The MP, the MCE and the Municipal Director of Education of the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly has drilled a 1-unit mechanised borehole serviced 5 exisitng borehole at Ebenzer Senior High Schoo, St Margaret Mary SHS and Akweibu Basic school. the new borehole was drilled at Ebenezer SHS and two existing ones were serviced. Two existing ones were service at St. Magaret Mary SHS and the other one was serviced at Akweibu Basic School. This effort will ensure that water is adequately available at all times for the hygiene needs of both staff and students.

Achieving the first 90 in 90-90-90 Global HIV Target

As part of efforts to achieve the first 90 in 90-90-90 Global HIV target, the Municipal AIDS Committee in collaboration with the Health Directorate organized a comprehensive screening exercise at the Glefe trotro station last Friday. The exercise was well patronized by drivers, commuters, pedestrians and community members. Tests carried out included HIV, TB, Blood Glucose, Hepatitis B, Malaria, BP, and BMI.

This ongoing intervention directly tackles student-to-desk deficits, aiming to secure comfortable and dignified conditions that facilitate effective teaching and academic performance.

A formal sod-cutting ceremony has been held in Dansoman Ebenezer SHS to mark the official commencement of a new 3-unit classroom block project. The initiative aims to enhance the local educational infrastructure, reduce classroom congestion, and create a modern, conducive environment for teaching and learning within the Ablekuma West Municipality.

Key Stakeholders were the Member of Parliament (MP), Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Municipal Director of Education, and local Traditional Authorities.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) highlighted the administrative oversight framework. The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly has ane promise to  closely monitor construction milestones to ensure the structure meets standard architectural regulations and is delivered strictly on schedule.local Municipal Director of Education expressed immense gratitude, stating that additional classrooms are critical for absorbing growing student enrollment. Traditional leaders and opinion elders from the Dansoman community offered their formal blessings during the event. The event concluded with the official groundbreaking phase. The MCE, and local chiefs together performed the symbolic sod-cutting and digging to formally clear the site for the structure

Inter-Sectoral Stakeholders’ Meeting Focuses on Improving Service Delivery

The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly convened an Inter-Service Meeting under the Inter-Service and Sectoral Collaboration and Co-operation System (ISCCS) to strengthen collaboration among departments, agencies and development partners and improve service delivery across the district.
The meeting, held on Friday, 31st July 2026 at the Municipal Assembly Hall in Dansoman, brought together heads of department, representatives of public & private institutions and security agencies to review sector performance, present annual activity reports and discuss priorities for coordinated development.
In his opening remarks, a Deputy Director at the Assembly, Mr. Victor Adjei Mframah who represented the Coordinating Director, welcomed participants and expressed appreciation for their continued commitment to the Municipal’s development. He underscored the importance of inter-service collaboration in achieving effective coordination and improved service delivery, and highlighted the objectives, guiding principles and collaboration mechanisms of the ISCCS framework.
During the meeting, departments and institutions presented updates on their activities and outlined their priorities. The Development Planning Unit also presented the Annual Action Plan of the Assembly to members present.

In his closing remarks, the Deputy Director thanked all participants for their valuable contributions and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining regular stakeholder engagements to promote coordinated planning, transparency and improved service delivery throughout the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly.

DONATION OF HOMOWO ITEMS FOR THE CELEBRATION

The Muncipal Chief Executive Hon. George Kpakpo Allotey officially presented essential food items, beverages, and financial support to traditional authorities within the Ablekuma West Municipality to support the upcoming annual Homowo Festival celebration. The yearly initiative strengthens the relationship between the Assembly and the local Ga communities. It also aims to preserve Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

TRAINING FOR HON. ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

The Institute of Local Government Studies successfully organised a two-day capacity-building training programme for all Assembly Members of the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly from 21st to 22nd July 2026. The training was highly interactive and productive, equipping participants with valuable knowledge and insights to enhance their roles in local governance and service delivery.

CONSTRUCTION OF 1 No. 2 UNIT KINDERGARTEN

Today, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive of the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly officially handed over the project site at Nasrawa to Quarltz SG Ltd for the construction of a modern educational facility comprising a 1 No. 2-unit Kindergarten (KG) block, Head Teacher’s Office, Staff Common Room, Store, 6-seater water closet toilet, 2-unit urinal, and a children’s play area.

The ceremony brought together Heads of Department, community members, teachers, and students, marking another important step in the Assembly’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and providing a conducive learning environment for our children.
