They are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ordinance Marriage; regulated by Marriage Ordinance (CAP 127)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customary Marriage; regulated by Customary Marriage and Divorce (Registration) Law 1985 (PNDCL<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>112)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mohammedan Marriage; regulated by Marriage of Mohammedans (CAP 129)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements for the registration of Ordinance Marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photocopies and originals of valid ID cards of parties (Ghana Card\/ Passport\/ Drivers\u2019 License etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Consent Letter is required if one party is not present at the time of the filing\/registration of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>marriage as proof of consent to the intended marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Copies of Divorce Certificates of a Party\/Parties who have been married before in the past should be<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>submitted during the filing\/registration of the marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foreigners who intend to register their marriage with the Assembly should have resided in the Country<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>for at least 14 days prior to the filing\/ registration of the marriage. They are also required to submit a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resident Permit to the Marriage Registry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ordinance Marriage registration process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parties to the marriage must file a notice of marriage at the Marriage Registry 21 days prior to the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Signing of the Marriage Certificate. The following information is required;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Names of Parties to the marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Occupation of Parties to the marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Places of Residence of Parties to the marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Condition of Parties to the marriage (Single\/ Divorced\/ Widowed)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fathers\u2019 names and occupations of Parties to the marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After filing the notice of marriage, the Marriage Registry shall publish names of the Parties on the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assembly\u2019s\u2019 notice board to inform the general public of the intended marriage and allow<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>person\/persons who knows of any cause why the marriage should not be registered to raise a caveat<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>against the issuance of the marriage certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Marriage Registry proceeds to register the marriage on a scheduled date and time if no caveat is<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>raised against the intended marriage. (Kindly note that if the Marriage Certificate is not signed after 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>months of filing the notice of marriage, the Parties will be required to refile the notice as it would have<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>expired)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MARRIAGE REGISTRATION<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2 Parties together with 2 Witnesses each are required to be present to sign the Marriage Certificate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>on the scheduled date and time after which the Marriage Certificate is presented to the Parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Filing of Customary Marriage Registration\/Dissolution<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Filing for the Registration\/Dissolution of Customary Marriage shall be accompanied by a Statutory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Declaration indicating the following;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Names of the Parties to the marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Places of residence of the Parties at the time of the marriage\/dissolution of the marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Date and place of the marriage\/dissolution of the marriage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Statutory Declaration should be supported\/signed by the parents of the couple OR family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>representatives standing in loco parentis to the couple<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photocopies of valid ID cards of the Parties as well as Parents\/Family Representatives attesting to the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Statutory Declaration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After receipt of a notice\/application for the registration\/dissolution of Customary Marriage, the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marriage Registry shall publish the notice on the Assembly\u2019s notice board for 28 days.
