36th FARMERS' DAY CELEBRATIONS OBSERVED

Farmers' day

The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly yesterday 6th November, 2020 observed this year 36th National Farmers’ Day Anniversary Celebraions, with the theme “Ensuring Agribusiness Development under COVID-19 | Opportunities and Challenges” at the Karikari Brobbey Park, to appreciate and thank the hardworking farmers and fishermen within the municipality. This year’s Farmers and Fishermen Day celebration which should have been marked on Friday, the 4th of December 2020 had to be rescheduled to yesterday, the 6th of November, 2020 in order to give way for an equally important national event.

The MCE, Hon. George Cyril Bray in his address indicated that, the farming sector has been the main source of job creation for the teaming youth and generates income for them and the government. According to the MCE, the lessons derived from COVID-19 have created a new sense of awareness on the need to strengthening the agricultural sector by ensuring that we produce enough to feed the nation and surplus for export.

The MCE ended her speech by congratulating all farmers and award winners for this year farmers’ day and also stating that, as responsible citizens and of course not spectators, it behooves on each and every one of us to ensure peace before, during and after the December 2020 election.
