TWO COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT HELD AT GLEFE AND AKOKORFOTO

Community Engagement at Glefe

The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly under the leadership of the Chief Executive, Hon. George Cyril Bray on Saturday, July 30, 2022 organised two community engagement meetings at Glefe and Akokorfoto.

Community Engagement at Glefe

The first of the two community engagements which took place at the Glefe GPRTU park was related to the state of sanitation in the Opetekwei & Glefe electoral areas and how best the community can help the Assembly to curb this menace. This meeting comes on the back of the MCE's meeting with Traditional Leaders from these two electoral areas and adjoining communities.

The issue of improper disposal of refuse and turning if the Glefe Lagoon into a dumping site is one that has been at the heart of the MCE's campaign in sanitation. Hon Bray took a chunk of the time to discuss thoroughly on the appalling state of sanitation within the municipality emphasizing mainly on the Glefe Lagoon.

Like with the Traditional leaders, Hon. George Cyril Bray used the occasion to request the residents of these communities to support the Assembly in putting a stop to this problem and restoring the Glefe Lagoon.

The entire community agrees to do everything in their power to assist the Assembly in carrying out its duties to ensure the menace is dealt with moving ahead. They agreed to assist in the municipality's growth and to offer their assistance.

Community Engagement at DC Hills

The second of the two community engagements took place at Akokorfoto - Dansoman Hills in the afternoon of the same day. Dansoman Hills is a suburb of Dansoman Akokorfoto that has seen a rise in home construction. The purpose of the meeting with residents of this new neighborhood was to persuade building owners—the majority of whom lack building permits—to come to the Assembly's office in order to "Regularise" their structures. This regularization method checks that all previously constructed structures are up to code to avoid any future unforeseen scenarios.

Most residents agreed with this arrangement and promised to comply with it, as well as support the Assembly by paying the necessary fees and bills.
