The 4th edition of the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly’s annual December carnival took off this year with 3 days activities and fun at the Theresa Amerley Tagoe Roundabout. 

The event was slated from the 16th to 18th of December, 2022 with wild activities lined up which included; Slot for the Vendors to exhibit their products, Marathon, Football, Exhibition, Cooking Competition, Talent hunt, Artistes Night and Many More.

This year’s event was partnered by King of all Music and Perfumes with massive support from the MP of Ablekuma west; Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, Oba Foods Inc., Neuce paint, Mr. Boakye Guinness man, Dominion Ventures, Nescafe, Zodiac Pharmacy, Faith luxury kitchen, Betway, Zulka, Grace has found us, Anointed Quality Fabrics, Indomie, Icy Fresh, GIFEC, Ice Joy and Dansoman Market Association.

The DC Carnival Football gala commenced the event on Friday, 16th December, 2022 at the Zulka sports Arena with 10 teams whilst the Exhibition of goods and creative art was underway. The participants were; Yaro XI, Ga manye fc, Otodjor soccer fc, Gbebu/Glefe all-stars, Gbegbeyese soccer fc, Shaolin XI, Ablekuma West All Stars, Ablekuma West deaf soccer fc, Tonys park fc, Opetekwei fc.

A total of one hundred and forty (140) persons registered for a slot in relations to vendors whilst one hundred (100) persons made an appearance.The Set up for vendors started from the ADB Bank to the Amerley Tagoe Roundabout also, from CAL Bank heading towards Mama’s Inn. Vendors were overwhelmed with the patronage of their items which included food, clothing, goods and services.

DAY 2 of the event kicked off with the Marathon which started at 5:00am. Participants were ranged from age 14 and below for kids and adults from age 15 and above.

Persons with disability were not left out, a total of ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE (175) persons participated in the Marathon were Children (97), Adults (78), Persons with Disability (PWD-4).

 

DCCarnival22 Basketball

Basketball teams within the municipality assembled at the SSNIT FLATS basketball court in a bid to demonstrate strength, power and skills for championship between 5 teams; DC Keys, TCL- charm, Team Grant, Gbawe Vipers and Dunks basketball team.

Jollof Competition at DCCarnival22

A special twist was added to this year’s edition; ‘‘JOLLOF RICE DERBY’’. The Jollof Rice Competition took place at the Amerley Tagoe roundabout with 4 competitive teams; GNAT, MT. Olivet Methodist Society, the Deaf Group and Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly. The competition was supported by the Dansoman Control Market with ingredients from the Market women.

DCCarnival22 Talent Hunt

Artworks, Talent Hunt Display by Masquerades and Artistes night drew throngs of people to the Amerley Tagoe roundabout due to its massive showcase of talent, vibes and entertainment. The streets were packed with spectators and fans of various artistes. Performaces from Addi Self, Joint 77, Tulenkey, home and abroad artistes gave the crowd an unforgettable experience.

DAY 3 of the most existing DC Carnival was a blast with Choral Performances. Various Groups and Choristers took turns to showcase their vocal abilities with Christmas hymns and carols. The climax of the event was the lightening of the Amerley Tagoe roundabout by the MP; Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, the MCE; Hon. George Cyril Bray and accompanied by the MCD; Mr. Samuel Amoah and other dignitaries. Awards such as Trophy, Medals, products from sponsors and Cash prizes were given out to winners and runner –ups of various categories of the competition.

Kids : Overall Winner - Philip Acquah.

Youngest (6 years) - Prince Tetteh.

1st Female - Ruth Tawiah.

The 2022 DC Carnival was a show stopper with admirations and praises from all and sundry. The event placed a smile on the faces of residents, spectators and cherished sponsors due to its success and fulfilled expectations. Thumps up to the Planning Committee, Partners, Sponsors and the general public for a great show. The Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly’s DC Carnival has promised to be bigger and better.
